How To Install Windows Xp From Network

  1. Free Windows Xp Install
  2. Install Windows From Network Drive

To install a new printer with Windows XP’s Add Printer Wizard, follow these steps: Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar and then click Control Panel on the right side of the Start menu. Click the Printers and Other Hardware hyperlink if the Control Panel window is in Category View. Safely remove the drive from your main computer, insert it in the XP machine, reboot. Then keep an eagle eye on the boot screen, because you'll want to hit the magic key that will drop you into the machine's BIOS. Once you're in the BIOS, make sure you boot off the USB stick. Go ahead and install Windows 10.

Almost all users installing Windows XP on a home or personal computer can leave 'Typical Settings' selected for Network Setup. If you are installing Windows XP in a corporate or academic environment, check with the system administrator, though Typical Settings will most likely work.

(Solved) - No Internet after Windows XP reinstall

(26 posts)

This is the first time I ever reinstalled an OS which is Windows XP. The reinstall went great, however I don't have an Internet connection. How do I get my computer to connect to the Internet? I use Verizon DSL.

Windows

Thank you.

is your network card successfully installed after installing windows xp?

I don't know if the network card was successfully installed. How would I find this please?

To access Device Manager, use any of the following methods:
Click Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc.
Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager.
Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

In device Manager , is there any yellow question marks?? if yes , is there one near 'network adapter'?

There are quite a few yellow question marks in device manager, however, 'network adapter' isn't listed at all.

can u tell me what are the listed near the yellow marks???

You need to go to your computer manufacturers web site - support and drivers ( on another computer, of course, and find the drivers for your model. Download them and install them.

the ethernet controller is the one that we are looking for , but you should do as xhi suggested so you can have all your hardware working.
Tell us what is your desktop model so we can try helping you find the drivers.

Also need to find out what SP version the OP installed.

The model of the computer is Dell Dimension E510 and SP2 is installed.

here is your HP printer driver:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizs.....EnvOID=228

Here is the link to the drivers for your machine. Make sure you use the drop down menu to select 'Windows XP'.

Install in this order;
Chipset, Video (VGA), Audio, Onboard LAN, Modem (if one is installed), then any other devices you have connected.
After that, go to Windows Update and get it updated.

@Tech-No , the page will not open directly to the drivers , he will have to select the model of his desktop to Dimension and choose the E510 again....

He should look for and use his service tag from the back/bottom of the computer.

It does on my end. Dell 5150/E510 shows at the top of the page and Windows Vista 32 bit is the defauld driver set. That's why he should drop the menu down and select Windows XP. However, if the link doesn't work.....I don't know.

You must have some cookies that we do not have. Gives me the service tag entry screen.

@Inlovewithnight, when you do download all your drivers burn them to a Cd for future use just in case you need again.

I first want to thank all of you for your help. Really appreciate it.

OK, I went onto the Dell Drivers site. I downloaded the 'chipset' and 'audio' drivers. Under 'video' drivers, there are eleven and I'm not sure which one to download. I also do not see 'onboard Lan' or 'modem' drivers.

The service tag entry would be better.

Thanks for letting me know. I copied the link using the Google Chrome browser. That is strange.

It could be the way Dell's site works now, or at least I hope it's as simple as that.

Most likely you have the Intel-Driver 945G Graphics Controller assuming you don't have a dedicated video card.

Of the four entries under 'Network' all you need is the Intel-Driver to get your internet running. The rest are not necessary.

The modem is under 'Communications'. You either have a Conexant or an Intel Modem. I always remove the side cover and look with a flashlight for a label to determine which one it is. Most of the time with the Dell's I've seen, the modems are Conexant. Again, all you will really need is the Driver, not the utilities unless you prefer to have them.

Oh, the audio driver will be the SigmaTel-Driver unless you have a dedicated Creative sound card.

How To Install Windows Xp From NetworkFrom

OK, I'm on the Internet and I have sound! Seems when I inserted the Dell driver disk nothing installed. I had to do them manually. My thanks to all of you for taking the time to help me. It is appreciated very much.

Glad you are up and running again. You got some good experience too.

Now that your on the web you might want to check on the mfg's website and see if there are any updated drivers that you can download.
